Who can become a Governor?

Anyone can provided you are willing, have the time, enthusiasm and dedication.
The name Parent Governor means exactly what it says - you are a Governor who is also a Parent of a child in school at the time of your election. You are not elected to represent the views of other parents but to help (along with the staff and other governors) to maintain the highest standards throughout the school and to ensure that every child is given the opportunity of achieving their full potential.

Wanted - New School Governors

Trekenner School is currently looking for new governors to join our Governing Board. We would be delighted to hear from anyone in the local community who would like to make a difference and contribute to the effectiveness of your local school.

Our governors come from a range of different backgrounds and have different skills and experience but all share a common interest of wanting the best possible education for the children in our school.

Governors usually meet 6 times per year, and visit the school between meetings to monitor particular areas of focus. Governors are not involved in the day-to-day operational running of the school, but help to support and challenge school leaders in meeting strategic targets and in the educational performance of the school and its pupils. Governors also oversee the financial performance of the school, ensuring its money is well spent.

Training and guidance will be provided, and all governors need to be able to commit to the role, is a willingness to support the ethos of the school, consider the needs of all pupils, work as part of a team and respect confidentiality.

If you are interested, or know somebody else who would be, please contact the Clerk to Governors ( for more information and an application form. If you would like to discuss any aspects of the role please contact the clerk or the school office and we will be more than happy to call you for an informal chat.

Looking forward to hearing from you
