Welcome to Badgers Class!
We are a mixed age class including pupils from both Year 3 and 4.
Each week Badgers is taught on Monday and Tuesday by Mrs Mead, then taught on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday by Miss Mead.
In the mornings, we have time for reading and testing our book knowledge through Accelerated Reader quizzes, followed by some quick Maths Fluency. The rest of the mornings are spent practising our areas of literacy - handwriting, spelling, guided reading and writing skills. Our stories and books that we focus on during our literacy topics are taken from The Literacy Tree scheme of planning.
We then also dedicate time to Maths by following the White Rose Maths mixed age scheme in small steps to help the children develop their foundational skills, as well as learn new, more complex skills that they will need as they move towards Year 6, where they will sit their SATs.
In the afternoons, we vary what we learn everyday by ensuring pupils are learning essential knowledge from each of the foundational subjects set out in the National Curriculum and Science as a core subject. This includes Art & Design, Humanities subjects like History, Geography and RE, as well as Music, PSHE, Spanish, PE and every Friday afternoon we have fun with our Outdoor Learning.
We like to think our Badgers class is a welcoming and safe environment for all our children and encourage an attitude that learning is fun and engaging. We do this by considering all of our children in our lesson and curriculum planning and making learning meaningful but also exciting!
